FAMILY WATER FILTER
A plastic-free water-treatment medium for glass or stainless-steel containers holding 2 to 8 litres.
IMPORTANT: This product contains the Water Made Pure filter media only. The glass dispenser, pitcher, stand and other vessels shown in example photographs are not included.

MATERIALS
The filter contains only prepared activated carbon and natural calcite mineral stone. It contains no plastic cartridge, plastic housing or disposable filter components.
The filter media is prepared, rinsed, inspected and packaged by Water Made Pure on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.
HOW IT WORKS
The media rests directly in the bottom of your glass or stainless-steel vessel, allowing the water to remain in contact with the conductive carbon and calcite.
The activated carbon improves taste and reduces chlorine-related taste and odour. The natural calcite slowly adds minerals and supports balanced alkalinity. Extended contact also lowers the water's oxidation-reduction potential (ORP).
This filter is intended for potable tap water. It does not make microbiologically unsafe water safe to drink.
CAPACITY AND COMPATIBILITY
- For containers holding 2 to 8 litres
- Treats up to 900 litres of potable tap water
- Typical household replacement interval: approximately four months, depending on water use and water quality
- Suitable for glass and stainless-steel vessels
- Can also be used as a finishing and remineralizing stage in the lower reservoir of many gravity-fed systems
HOW TO PREPARE IT
- Remove the media from the package.
- Rinse it thoroughly under running water to remove loose carbon fines.
- Place the media directly in the bottom of a clean glass or stainless-steel vessel.
- Fill the vessel with potable tap water.
- Allow at least 20 minutes for noticeable taste improvement. Longer contact provides greater interaction with the carbon and mineral stone.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
- Keep the vessel and dispensing tap clean.
- Rinse the media if sediment or loose carbon fines accumulate.
- Periodically boil the media in clean water for three minutes, allow it to cool and return it to the cleaned vessel.
- Replace after approximately 900 litres or four months of typical household use.
- A light mineral film may occasionally form on glass. This is naturally occurring mineral residue and can be removed with diluted vinegar.
